This is a great quote, from the front of the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue... "Colour isn't just pretty; it evokes emotions and helps us to express creativity". I love colour and I want to share with you my thoughts on the five new 2016-2018 In Colors. The first one we will explore will be Sweet Sugarplum.

Sweet Sugarplum is a soft orchid-colour that is a sumptuous shade similar to Rich Razzleberry but less intense. More purple than Blushing Bride and more pink than Perfect Plum - is this warm dusty colour a purple or a pink? I'll let you decide!

This card's layout was inspired by BJ Peters and compares Sweet Sugarplum with three other current Stampin' Up! colours...

For this card I used products from a gorgeous product suite called Playful Palette, featuring the fun Painter's Palette stamp set, the Playful Palette Designer Washi Tape and finished off with a sprinkle of black and gold sequins...

Sweet Sugarplum is such a pretty, girly colour so I created this card for my daughter's 13th birthday, which is today!

To make this card over-the-top-girly, I used the Detailed Floral Thinlits to die-cut a lacy front and to add some detail to the inside matt. The flower on the front was created using the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set and Blossom Builder Punch...

To get the variation of the same stamped colour, I first stamped the petal outlines in Sweet Sugarplum ink. I then inked the partial solid petal stamp with Sweet Sugarplum ink, stamped off once before stamping inside the petal outline. And lastly, I inked the solid petal image with Sweet Sugarplum ink, stamped off twice before stamping inside the petal outline. The result is three shades of the same ink to give the petals beautiful depth.
