Punches have come a long way from simple circles and squares. New manufacturing technologies make it possible to produce punches with detailed, intricate designs and more options than just a single image. The triple layer punches are a perfect example. These punches let you create three different punch images with one punch - it's like getting three punches for the price of one!
- Check out the triple layer punches on page 151 of the catalogue.
Each punch has three images and the shapes in each punch are designed to layer with each other, so you could punch out all three images and use them together, but they're also beautiful on their own.
Here's a quick overview on how to use the triple layer punches. This is the Triple Layer Doily Punch, it punches out the three different shapes pictured...
To get each of these shapes you slide the selector button on the punch to the design you want, making sure the selector button is locked into place before punching (it should not be between positions). Place the punch on a flat surface, insert your paper or card stock and press down. You'll feel the punch depress as many times as your selector indicates; that is, if you've selected the first image, you should feel it punch once and the punch will only depress a small amount (quite shallow)...
If you've selected the second image, you should feel it punch twice and the punch will depress about half-way down...
And finally, if you've selected the third image, you should feel it punch three times and the punch will depress all the way to the bottom...
If you don't feel it punch the number of times you've selected, the punched image isn't complete.

And here's another: the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch...
I used this punch to create the background for this card by adhering the Elegant Eggplant punched shapes on to Wisteria Wonder card stock and then putting the lot through the Square Lattice embossing folder...
