I was creating a fun birthday card using the fabulous Painted Stripes background stamp and started experimenting with second-generation stamping.  The result is a more subtle watercolour striped background on this oh-so-simple thank-you note card.

Painted Stripes Background Stamp (cling: 165437) - $53.00

Second-generation stamping involves inking a stamp, stamping it off, and then stamping it onto your project.  The result is a lighter, more subtle stamped image.

Here's a thought: don't waste that first stamped image!  I inked the Painted Stripes stamp in Peach Pie ink and stamped it onto a piece of Basic White cardstock, which I used to create my first card.  Then I stamped the stripes again, without reinking onto an 8 cm x 12 cm (3-1/4" x 4-3/4") piece of Basic White cardstock.  This lighter-stamped image was then adhered to a Basic White Note Card to create a beautiful, subtle background for this thank-you card.

This thank-you note card was finished simply with a pre-printed, die-cut bouquet from the Wildflower Birthday Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.  The bouquet was cut in half and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals onto the card front.  The words were then stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink onto a sliver of Basic White cardstock and also added with Stampin' Dimensionals.  TADA!  A simple yet stunning thank-you card with a subtle striped background.
