This thank you card begins with a Boho Blue cardstock base, as I chose the Boho Blue patterned paper from the Mixed Media Florals Designer Series Paper for the background. I then die-cut one of the classicly shaped arches from the Everyday Arches Dies from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Looking closely, you will see that I stamped one of the floral branches on this arch and watercoloured it, splattering some Mossy Meadow and Boho Blue ink across the face. So messy and fun!
The watercoloured flowers on the forefront of the thank you card were stamped in Jet Black StazOn onto Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Two tips here (1) use a robust watercolour paper because you don't want the paper to tear apart as you are colouring, and (2) stamp in a solvent-based ink like StazOn so that your stamped image won't bleed.
The watercolouring on this card is a quick-and-dirty method that matches the patterned paper's style and is so simple that anyone can do it and get great results. Take the flower petals for example, I squeezed my Calypso Coral stamp pad so that ink pooled in the lid. I then squeezed some water from the medium-brush Water Painter onto the lid to have two ink concentrations, one watered down and one rich in colour. I began with the watered down ink and gave the petals a quick wash of colour. I then went back over parts of the petals with the concentrated ink to add more depth to the image. This is the same watercolouring process I used for the whole image: Daffodil Deight ink for the flower centres, Mossy Meadow for the stems and leaves, Boho Blue for the tiny blossoms, and Poppy Parade for the cute ladybirds.
Once I finished colouring, I die-cut the images and adhered them over the die-cut arch with Stampin' Dimensionals.
How adorable are those watercolored ladybirds! Or are they ladybugs? I couldn't finish this thank you card with the Mixed Florals Bundle without adding them to the front.
