I've mentioned it before, and I'll mention it again... when you spot "Specialty" in the name of a patterned paper pack, then take a closer look at why it's so special.  The By the Bay 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper is a case in point!  This stunning paper not only has beautiful water-inspired designs but its "specialty" is that it also has gold and pearl accents on selected prints!  When I planned a focus for this grid-style greeting card, I picked out patterned paper with the gold-accented school of fish.

To create this card, I began with six 4 cm (1-1/2") squares, three cut from two different patterned papers out of the By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.  When I stuck these squares onto the card front, I strategically chose the orientation of the patterned paper so that I didn't lose the circular movement of the fish.

The By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper does most of the work and there wasn't much else needed to finish this sympathy card.  I wrapped a length of the soft Balmy Blue & White 1/2" Variegated Ribbon around the front panel and tied a nice loopy bow, which anchored a cluster of elements like the "heartfelt sympathy" sentiment, a couple of stamped-and-die-cut shells, some grass (die-cut from another sheet of the By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper), and a scattering of Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls.

The natural hues and serene imagery in the By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper lends itself to many types of projects and is especially nice for a sympathy card.  It makes a change from the usual floral card for such an occasion.
