Before I talk about the design of this card, I first want to share the two similar stamp-colouring techniques I used on the front of this fun Christmas card.
For the candy cane on the left, I mounted the stamp in the Stamparatus, inked it with Sweet Sorbet ink, and stamped it onto Basic White cardstock. Before removing the stamped image from the Stamparatus, I inked the fine double stripes in the image in a darker red and stamped it again. To do this, I used the Real Red Stampin' Write Marker to apply ink only on those parts of the stamp.
For the candy cane on the right, I inked each stripe in alternate colours by applying the Pool Party Stampin' Write Marker and Real Red Stampin' Write Marker directly onto the stamp and then stamping it onto Basic White cardstock. Here's a tip... if the ink begins to dry while you are still inking with the markers, huff onto the stamp with your breath just before you stamp. The warm moisture of your breath will reactivate the ink.
Remember to use water-based markers like the Stampin' Write Markers when you are using them to apply ink directly onto a stamp. Alcohol markers like the Stampin' Blends should not be used for this technique.
This Book Card design is a landscape, side-opening card that has a scored line approximately 4-5 cm (1-3/4"-2") in from the left, which is the new hinge for opening the card. The area on the right of that scored line is sealed to form a spine, which means you can add some lovely ribbon detailing in this section and the ends can be tucked away inside the spine.
And then the card opens on the hinged front like this...
The Book Card is a simple design that is so much fun to create and receive! I love how fun the fabulous Sweet Candy Cane Bundle is and how much joy it lends to this Christmas card.
