It's always fun when the new annual catalogue comes along and brings with it five fresh, on-trend colours to add to the Stampin' Up! palette. One of the five new colours from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue is... STARRY SKY - a navy blue with a purple undertone that works well with neutrals and metallics. Take a look at how this new hue compares with some of our familiar core colours...
I couldn't go past the fabulous Sun Prints Suite to create a project using Starry Sky. The Sun Prints Designer Series Paper in this collection incorporates our three deep, rich blues: Night of Navy, Starry Sky, and Pacific Point, and pairs them with Gray Granite. This beautiful friendship card using the Sun Prints Suite was inspired by Tammy Wilson...

Sun Prints Suite Collection (158805) - $162.00

I began with a piece of Basic White cardstock, which I tore the bottom edge, embossed with the gorgeous Fern 3D Embossing Folder, and then gently brushed some Gray Granite ink across the bottom. I then tucked two pieces of the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper underneath, one showing a blue design from the pack and the other piece showing a Gray Granite print. The wreath and stems were die-cut from Shimmery White cardstock and given a wash of colour using the Water Painters in Gray Granite ink (for the wreath) and Starry Sky ink (for the stems). Before adding the wreath to the card front, I gave it some splatters of Starry Sky ink by scraping the brush-tip end of the Stampin' Blend over the lip of its lid. I finished this beautiful friendship card by tucking the die-cut stems and a Linen Thread bow under the words and adding some Starry Sky Matte Decorative Dots.
Watercolouring brings out the base notes of ink colour and, on this friendship card, you can see the purple tones that underpin the beautiful, deep blue of the new Starry Sky. Love it!
