When we created the Father's Day Postal Gift Boxes as part of the August Stamping Workshops, I was challenged by a few attendees to create a Christmas version, and here it is! I took inspiration from the elaborately decorated letterboxes I found online and festively dressed this postal gift box using products from the beautiful Painted Christmas Suite.

Painted Christmas Suite Collection (156274) - $296.75
Instead of "rusty edges", this special letterbox has gilded leafing! To get this effect, I placed a small amount of Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue on my finger and rubbed it with my thumb so my finger had a thin coating. I applied small smears of glue to the edges of the letterbox with my gluey finger, added the Gilded Leafing, and then brushed off the excess. It's very messy, but a lot of fun! I love the finish this gives.
Online image searches for traditional tunnel letterboxes decorated for Christmas often show them draped in pine or fir garlands, berries, and pinecones. So, I began with die-cutting the large, intricate pine branch from the Christmas Pinecone Dies from Evening Evergreen cardstock. I snipped a section out of it to add to the side of the postal gift box. I then stamped leaves in Evening Evergreen and Pear Pizzazz inks, holly berries in Real Red ink, and pinecones in Early Espresso ink, die-cut them out, and arranged them over the pine branch. I anchored this arrangement with a letterbox flag with Merry Christmas stamped on it.
The colour palette for the foliage came from one of the patterned papers in the Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper pack. I used that paper to line the inside of the postal gift box, which gave it a lovely finish.
Here's a sneak peek at what I have inside my Christmas gift box...
These postal gift boxes are quite a generous size and can be filled with yummy treats and small gifts.
