To create this pretty collage background for this friendship card, I used the elegant French motifs and postal imagery from the Parisian Beauty stamp set. It's a great way to create your custom designer paper with themes to match your card design.

For this card, I stamped some of the images in full-strength ink and others I stamped off one, two, or sometimes, three times to get translucent shades of ink and differences of intensity. I stamped the fleur-de-lis and Parisian postmark in Petal Pink, the script in Pool Party, the postal cancellation image and Eiffel Tower in Smoky Slate, and the fleur-de-lis border in Cherry Cobbler. This colour combination was gleaned from the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper, which you can see a small peek of one piece behind the offset focal piece.
I also wanted to share how I created the silver faux-wax seal on the left of the Eiffel Tower. This is done using lots and lots of embossing powder, VersaMark ink, and a rubber stamp.
- Apply VersaMark ink to cardstock. This could be a punched circle smooshed onto the VersaMark stamp pad or the ink brushed onto a piece of cardstock.
- Cover ink with embossing powder, shake off excess, and heat set until shiny and molten. I used Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder for this project.
- Add more embossing powder while the first layer is still hot and sticky and heat set.
- Repeat adding layers of embossing powder and heat setting until there is a nice thick layer. I applied about five layers for this project.
- Ink a rubber stamp with VersaMark ink and press into the embossed layers while it is still soft. The ink protects the stamp from sticking to the heated embossing powder.
- Leave embossing to cool and set.
For this project, I used Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder to create the wax seal and pressed the fabulous Eiffel Tower postmark stamp into it. This stamp from the Parisian Beauty stamp set was the perfect image for this friendship card.
