Inspired by the project pictured on the bottom left of page 41 in the Occasions Catalogue, I created this Celebrate New Baby card using the Happy Celebrations stamp set and one of the two Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders...
Stamps: Happy Celebrations (photopolymer: 143012). Ink: Bermuda Bay (131171), Pool Party (126982), Peekaboo Peach (141398), Whisper White Craft (101731). Card/Paper: Pool Party (124391), Whisper White (106549), Whisper White Thick (140490), Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack (142744). Accessories: Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim (137910), Sending Love Embellishments (142735), Delicate White Doilies (141701), White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132). Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (142760), Stampin' Pierce Mat (126199), Banner Triple Punch (138292), Heat Tool (129056), Embossing Buddy (103083), Glue Dots (103683), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
What you may not have noticed about the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders is that it embosses the words back to front. This isn't a mistake, that is the back of the card. These folders were designed to de-emboss the card stock so that the "celebrate" and "happy" are pressed or branded into the card instead of being raised. What that means is that you can stamp over the top and create voids on your project. Not only is this a fun technique, but it creates a fabulous contrast and makes the words stand out. I used the two brushstroke circle images from the Happy Celebrations stamp set to stamp Bermuda Bay, Pool Party and Peekaboo Peach inks over my baby boy card.
Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (142760) - $19.00
Happy Celebrations Photopolymer Stamp Set (143012) - $73.50
I love the versatility of the Happy Celebrations stamp set. I can imagine using most of the words in this set with the "celebrate" debossing... Celebrate New Baby, Celebrate Your Day, Celebrate New Beginnings, Celebrate Together, Celebrate Good Times! That means that this card would be great for many occasions, just change the colours to match.
Here's a second card that is identical in layout, but stamped in Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and Peekaboo Peach inks for a baby girl...
Stamps: Happy Celebrations (photopolymer: 143012). Ink: Calypso Coral (126983), Blushing Bride (131172), Peekaboo Peach (141398), Whisper White Craft (101731). Card/Paper: Calypso Coral (126392), Whisper White (106549), Whisper White Thick (140490), Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack (142744). Accessories: Blushing Bride Sequin Trim (138400), Sending Love Embellishments (142735), Delicate White Doilies (141701), White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132). Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (142760), Stampin' Pierce Mat (126199), Banner Triple Punch (138292), Heat Tool (129056), Embossing Buddy (103083), Glue Dots (103683), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
I love the impression (or de-impression) that this technique has. There is a caution though, with this technique, if you press too hard or rock your stamp, then there's a danger that you'll get ink over the inside of your debossed words. The tip for getting even, consistent stamping without applying too much pressure is to use a Stampin' Pierce Mat under your card stock.
