Today is ANZAC Day here in New Zealand and Australia. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Today is the anniversary of the first major joint military action by the Australian and New Zealand armed forces in the 1915 Gallipoli campaign during World War I. During the Gallipoli campaign, over 8,500 Australian soldiers and 2,700 New Zealand soldiers died and, through their bravery and sacifice, the ANZAC legend was formed.
