Welcome to Creative Stamping.

I offer workshops and demonstrations all focused on the fabulous papercraft products Stampin' Up! has to offer. As an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I am here to showcase Stampin' Up! products, share special offers and give you fun project ideas.  I look forward to sharing my love of stamping with you and inspiring your creativity.

Season of Joy & Priceless

Creating an opening in your card so you can see a stamped image on the inside of your card is a great way to add dimension to your creations.  Here are two very similar cards that use this technique.  The first is using stamps from Season of Joy to create a little Christmas card that would be really great to add to a gift.  The scallop on the inside of the card is the same as the ones we made at the October workshop for the Christmas voucher card.  The second card is practically the same, but uses stamps from Priceless.

If you place an order this month, you will get this Priceless card as my thank you to you.

Season of Joy & Priceless Cards
Stamps: Season of Joy (113023), Priceless (116402). Card/Paper: Very Vanilla (106550), Riding Hood Red (116205), Kiwi Kiss (116204).  Ink: Riding Hood Red (111836), Kiwi Kiss (111835).  Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter (102023).  Tools: Scallop Circle Punch (109043), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), 1-1/4" Circle Punch (104403), 1" Circle Punch (106046), 2-Way Glue Pen (100425), Stampin' Dimensionals (104403).

These two stamp sets are really versatile and compliment each other.  They also work well with the circle punches.

Christmas Swaps

This is what twenty Christmas card swaps look like...

Twenty Christmas Swaps
Stamps: Season of Joy (113023), So Swirly Jumbo Wheel (109683). Card/Paper: Night of Navy (106277), Bashful Blue (106565), Whisper White (106549).  Ink: Night of Navy (102977), Bashful Blue (105209).  Accessories: Night of Navy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109036).  Tools: 1-1/4" Circle Punch (104403), 1" Circle Punch (109046), Dotto (103305), Sponge Daubers (102896), Stamping Sponges (101610), Mat Pack (105826), Mini Glue Dots (103683).  Techniques: Reverse Masking.

Back of card showing The team of demonstrators that I belong to is having a training day on Saturday and at that event we are doing swaps (where everyone makes a whole lot of one project and then swaps those for something of someone else's).  This time around, the swaps have a Christmas theme and these will be my contribution.  What you can't see is inside the card there is a recipe with the products I used to make the cards, and on the back a little "Hand Stamped" stamp.  This cute little stamp is from the Season of Joy set and is a really lovely way of finishing off the card.

I don't usually tie bows, but stick to knots (much easier!).  However, after tying twenty bows from 4 metres of ribbon, I certainly tick that skill box!  I used the very simple instructions on how to tie a bow from page 36 of the Ideas Book & Catalogue, and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

Watch out for this card in November.  This is one of the projects we will be doing for the November workshops.  So come along and find out how to tie a lovely bow like this one and how to do the reverse masking technique.

Just Beachy Kids Cards

Today, being school holidays, I ran a "special workshop" just for my three kids.  Earlier in the week, when I was sorting out what to do I remembered that they had a birthday party on Sunday, so decided to have them make a card for that.  So,

  • a card for a 4-year old boy
  • something that would appeal to both my son and daughters (cross-gender)
  • simple enough for my 5-year old, but not too simple for my 8-year old
  • quick and easy - it is nearing the end of some quite wet school holidays and tempers are getting rather frazzled

Not an easy criteria to be designing under!  Anyway I ended up designing a card that would give them a good canvas to stamp on and encourage their own creativity instead of just copying a card I made.  This card, using the Just Beachy stamp set, seemed to fit the bill and they completed it with minimum fuss and had fun doing it.  I pre-cut all the card and let them do the punching, sticking and stamping.

My Just Beachy Card
Stamps: Just Beachy (116879), Bitty Birthday (115762). Card/Paper: Whisper White (106549), Brocade Blue (108608), So Saffron (108611).  Ink: Brocade Blue (101102), So Saffron (105213). Tools: Scallop Edge Punch (112091), 1" Circle Punch (109046), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

This is the one by Miss Eight...

Miss Eight's Just Beachy Card

She is a perfectionist and loves to copy cards I make, so her card is quite similar to mine.  However she had the bright idea to add the So Saffron strip at the bottom, which was left over from punching out the scallop edge.  I think it is a great touch to an otherwise quite bland card-front.  Her inspiration had the other two doing the same!  Also, when I got out the pre-prepared card I realised that I had cut out one Ballet Blue instead of Brocade Blue card for the background.  Miss Eight thought that it was great; it was different from everyone else.

This one is by Miss Six...

Miss Six's Just Beachy Card

I love this inside of her card - all her fish were stamped along the bottom - also that she decided to stamp the jandles next to the window opening in the card (even though Miss Eight said it wouldn't fit!).

And this one's by Master Three...

 Master Three's Just Beachy Card

He did a great job for his age.  He just needs to be more patient and use less pressure when stamping!  I suppose that is an age and gender thing, or is it?

Elmo Punch ArtFor the ladybird, I started with the instuctions found at Chic' n Scratch, and went from there...

Leaf: Scallop Circle Punch (109043) in Kiwi Kiss (116204).

Body: 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), one in Basic Black (106561) and one in Riding Hood Red (116205).  On the stall I didn't do this, but for this gift I sponged around the red wings with Basic Black ink (101179) before adhering them to the black body.

Head: 3/4" Circle Punch (107217) in Basic Black (106561).

Spots: 1/4" Circle Punch (retired) in Basic Black (106561), alternatively you can use a Crop-A-Dile (108362) to punch out the black spots.

For the antenna I used some fine black cord I purchased from a craft store and fixed it behind the head using a Mini Glue Dot (103683).

Elmo Punch ArtHere's the Elmo instructions as promised.  Recently I had a stall at our local Primary School twilight gala, where you could make this bookmark or the ladybird one for $1.  I chose these two because they don't require a large number of punches and they are easy for kids to assemble.  The kids loved them (I sold 30 in two hours!) and I had a great time.

For this one, I modified the Elmo on Dawn's website and used Riding Hood Red and Pumpkin Pie...

Face: Scallop Circle Punch (109043) in Riding Hood Red (116205) - if Elmo is going on a bookmark like this one, you will need two of these, one for the back.

Eyes: 1/2" Circle Punch (104390) in Whisper White (106549) and 1/4" Circle Punch (retired) in Basic Black (106561), alternatively you can use a Crop-A-Dile (108362) to punch out the black.

Nose: 1/2" Circle Punch (104390) in Pumpkin Pie (108601).

Mouth: 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401) in Basic Black (106561) - usually I would use 1-1/4" Circle Punch (104403), however that would mean another punch on the stall table and I didn't want to confuse the kids (or me!).
