Ladybird

Elmo Punch ArtFor the ladybird, I started with the instuctions found at Chic' n Scratch, and went from there...

Leaf: Scallop Circle Punch (109043) in Kiwi Kiss (116204).

Body: 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), one in Basic Black (106561) and one in Riding Hood Red (116205).  On the stall I didn't do this, but for this gift I sponged around the red wings with Basic Black ink (101179) before adhering them to the black body.

Head: 3/4" Circle Punch (107217) in Basic Black (106561).

Spots: 1/4" Circle Punch (retired) in Basic Black (106561), alternatively you can use a Crop-A-Dile (108362) to punch out the black spots.

For the antenna I used some fine black cord I purchased from a craft store and fixed it behind the head using a Mini Glue Dot (103683).

Elmo

Elmo Punch ArtHere's the Elmo instructions as promised.  Recently I had a stall at our local Primary School twilight gala, where you could make this bookmark or the ladybird one for $1.  I chose these two because they don't require a large number of punches and they are easy for kids to assemble.  The kids loved them (I sold 30 in two hours!) and I had a great time.

For this one, I modified the Elmo on Dawn's website and used Riding Hood Red and Pumpkin Pie...

Face: Scallop Circle Punch (109043) in Riding Hood Red (116205) - if Elmo is going on a bookmark like this one, you will need two of these, one for the back.

Eyes: 1/2" Circle Punch (104390) in Whisper White (106549) and 1/4" Circle Punch (retired) in Basic Black (106561), alternatively you can use a Crop-A-Dile (108362) to punch out the black.

Nose: 1/2" Circle Punch (104390) in Pumpkin Pie (108601).

Mouth: 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401) in Basic Black (106561) - usually I would use 1-1/4" Circle Punch (104403), however that would mean another punch on the stall table and I didn't want to confuse the kids (or me!).

More Crazy for Cupcakes

Well I got the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set, and I really love it, especially with the watercolour pencils and glitter.  Here are two cards that I created for my niece's birthdays at the end of September.  The large paper clips with the Elmo and ladybird punch art perched on the top are bookmarks.  Since I had made these bookmarks for their birthdays I decided to incorporate it into the cards - not as easy as I thought!  However I did like the finished product and when you remove the bookmarks, the cards still look good.

This one is for my niece who turned three.  I thought she would love the Elmo bookmark.  I found Elmo on Dawn's website a long time ago and have been waiting for the right project to use him.  I have modified what Dawn has in her instructions and used Riding Hood Red and Pumpkin Pie.  To tie the card to the bookmark, I carried over the Pumpkin Pie and used paper from Washington Apple DSP pack.  The only thing that I think could be better is that I used some old white flower brads, when I think the Pumpkin Pie flower brads from the Spring Mini Catalogue would have looked better.

Crazy for Cupcakes Card with Elmo bookmark
FOR THE CARD - Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes (115780), Sprinkles (116418).  Card/Paper: Pumpkin Pie (108601), Chocolate Chip (108599), Bashful Blue (106565), Whisper White (106549), Washington Apple DSP (112461).  Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908).  Accessories: Watercolor Pencils (101879), Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (102023), flower brads (non-SU!).  Tools: Scallop Edge Punch (112091), Blender Pen (102845), 2-way Glue Pen (100425), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).  Techniques: Water Colouring.

This second card is for my other niece, who turned five a week later.  I think the ladybird from Chic 'n Scratch is really cute.  Again I have changed the red to Riding Hood Red (I'm going to miss this colour when it leaves next year), and sat her on a Kiwi Kiss leaf.  My daughters really love her!  Again I let the colours in the bookmark lead the choices I made for the card.  This time I got out the Candy Lane DSP and mixed it with Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss - truely an In Color card!

Crazy for Cupcakes Card with ladybird bookmark
FOR THE CARD - Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes (115780), Priceless (116402), Simply Said (116414).  Card/Paper: Riding Hood Red (116205), Kiwi Kiss (116204), Pink Pirouette (116203), Whisper White (106549), Candy Lane DSP (113980).  Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908).  Accessories: Watercolor Pencils (101879), Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (102023), Sliver Brads (104336).  Tools: 1" Circle Punch (109046), Blender Pen (102845), 2-way Glue Pen (100425), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).  Techniques: Water Colouring.

This post is long enough!  I will write up what I used for the Elmo and ladybird punch art next time.

Gift Voucher Card

We gave my brother-in-law a gift voucher for his birthday this month, in which the voucher was the shape and size of a credit card.  A while ago I found these cards on Mary Fish's website, and decided to incorporate his gift into his birthday card...

Masculine Gift Voucher Card

Masculine Gift Voucher Card
Stamps: Bitty Birthday (115762).  Card/Paper: Sage Shadow (108620), Chocolate Chip (108599), Whisper White (106549), Windsor Knot DSP (112039).  Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908).  Accessories: So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker (105114), Sage Shadow Stampin' Write Marker Pen (100040), So Saffron 5/8" grosgrain ribbon (Ribbon Bundle Promotion - 114618).  Tools: Scallop Circle Punch (109043), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), Sticky Strip (104294), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

I used the same dimensions listed on Mary's website, and direction from Dawn's website.  The finished card size is 3" x 4-1/4".

September Thank You Cards

I have been playing with the ribbon from the ribbon bundle promotion.  I love the Certainly Celery and have used it quite a bit.  I added it to the little thank you cards I gave to customers who placed orders this month:

Mini Thank You Cards featuring Certainly Celery ribbon

Stamps: Lovely Labels (116390), Priceless (116402).  Card/Paper: Rose Red (108613), Certainly Celery (108619), Very Vanilla (106550).  Ink: Certainly Celery (105217).  Accessories: Certainly Celery 5/8" poly-twill ribbon (Ribbon Bundle Promotion - 114618).  Tools: Scallop Circle Punch (109043), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

I needed to make a bag topper for a hostess during the month, and since I already had the Certainly Celery, Rose Red and Pretty in Pink card on the table from another project, I used them to make this:
