Welcome to Creative Stamping.

I offer workshops and demonstrations all focused on the fabulous papercraft products Stampin' Up! has to offer. As an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I am here to showcase Stampin' Up! products, share special offers and give you fun project ideas.  I look forward to sharing my love of stamping with you and inspiring your creativity.

Sweet Treat Cups

The Summer Mini Catalogue is here!  Here is one of the products found in the Summer Mini - Sweet Treat Cups.  Used in conjunction with the new 1-3/4" Circle Punch, they can add dimension and small gifts to your cards.  Also in the Summer Mini  are padded envelopes specially designed for cards using the Sweet Treat Cups.

Sweet Treat Cups

The Sweet Treat Cups have an adhesive stip on the back of them so, once you have put in what you want, you can stick it to the front of your card.  Then you can used the 1-3/4" Circle Punch to punch out a circle from card in a complimentary colour and adhere that over the top to cover up the edges of the Sweet Treat Cup.  Very easy.  However, with this method you will need to destroy the card to get to the gift.  Another way to do it is to create a trap door in the card so that the recipient can get whatever you placed in there out without pulling the card apart.

Here is one idea on how I used the Sweet Treat Cup for a Christmas card.  On the side of the card there is a tab which can be pulled.  This opens a door on the inside of the card, which releases the lollies.  This is one of the projects we will be doing for the December workshops.

Sweet Treat Christmas Card

There are so many (small) things other than "sweets" that you can gift in these.  Over the last couple of weeks, a number of fellow demonstrators have been pooling their ideas on what you can put in a Sweet Treat Cup...

Lolly ideas:

  • M&Ms, mini M&M's, Smarties, PebblesSkittles in Sweet Treat Cup
  • Skittles
  • Tic Tacs
  • Jaffas
  • snakes
  • rolled up licorice
  • mini marshmellows
  • check out the bulk bins...

Other edible ideas:

  • sunflower or pumpkin seeds
  • glitter
  • cake sprinkles
  • small biscuit
  • coffee beans

Other ideas:

  • confetti or rice for the bride-to-be
  • flower or vegetables seeds for planting
  • snow globe
  • buttons or beads
  • tealight candle
  • screws, fishing hook, etc for a masculine card
  • cat food (for a cat lover), bird seed for a bird lover ?!?

I think that these Sweet Treat Cups are going to be a lot of fun to play with and you will come up with some other inventive ideas for filling them.

Stamped Candles

I have finally gotten around to posting these lovely stamped candles made by the ladies that came to the November workshop on the Wednesday night.

For this project, I gave them three stamp sets - Season of Joy, Baroque Motifs and Just Beachy - and a selection of colours and left them to it.  I love seeing what creative ideas people can come up with using the same products.  All different, all beautiful!

Don't forget that the Just Beachy stamp set featured here is in the Spring Mini Catalogue and will only be available until the end of this month - only a week left!

Never-Ending Card

I made this never-ending card for my Father-in-law's birthday, which we celebrated last night.  He is a hands-on-fix-it-type person so appreciated the mechanics of the card.  I adapted the instructions found on Dawn's website to create this card.

I have an excess of Kiwi Kiss DSP, so decided to use that to cover the surfaces - there are a lot of surfaces!  To create definition, I daubered around each piece of this card in Kiwi Kiss and Chocolate Chip, which created a really nice aged effect.  I found it quite difficult to develop this card because I couldn't use dimensionals, ribbons, etc. to create dimension and interest as they would interfere with the movement of the card.  Daubering in the two colours gave the dimension that the card needed.  Due to the unusual size of the card, I also made an envelope out of the Kiwi Kiss DSP, which gave it a lovely finish.

Dad's Never-Ending Birthday Card - Front
Stamps: Life Definitions (115928), Defining Alphabet (116354), Crazy for Cupcakes (115780), Sincere Salutations (116416), Kind Heart (116681).  Card/Paper: Whisper White (106549), Kiwi Kiss (116204), Kiwi Kiss Designer Series Paper (112161).  Ink: Kiwi Kiss (111835), Chocolate Chip (100908), Pumpkin Pie (105216).  Tools: 1" Circle Punch (109046), Daubers (102892) Blender Pen (102845).  Techniques: Daubering, Water-colouring.

Here are the insides of this card:

The never-ending cards are a lot of fun to play with and the kids had plenty of turns before we gave it away.  In fact, the more you play with this card, the better it moves!

Cherish Card

This card I totally copied from the Australian Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine (vol 14, no 12).  I had just got the Baroque Motifs stamp set and wanted to test-drive it!

Cherish Card
Stamps: Baroque Motifs (116340).  Card/Paper: Very Vanilla (106550), Certainly Celery (108619), Basic Gray (111859).  Ink: Basic Gray (109120), Certainly Celery (105217).  Accessories: Certainly Celery 5/8" poly-twill ribbon (from September's Ribbon Bundle Promotion), Vintage Brads (109109).  Tools: Mat Pack (106587), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

Australian Card-making, Stamping & Papercraft magazine (vol 12, no 12), page 55I did change some things:

  • I standardised the finished size of the card,
  • I used Certainly Celery 5/8" poly-twill ribbon (from September's Ribbon Bundle Promotion) instead of the 5/8" grosgrain ribbon,
  • Pewter brads instead of pearls,
  • Basic Gray ink instead of silver embossing, and
  • Basic Gray card instead of the silver brushed metallic.

This is the card that inspired my bag tags for the Hamilton Extravaganza.

Another Window Frame

When I was playing around with the Window Frame Technique, I thought it would make a good mat for framing photos in a frame.  This is what I came up with:

Cherish Photo Frame
Stamps: Baroque Motifs (116340).  Card/Paper: Whisper White (106549), Kiwi Kiss (116204), Kiwi Kiss Designer Series Paper (112161).  Ink: Kiwi Kiss (111835), VersaMark (102283).  Accessories: Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109025), White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132).  Tools: 1-3/8" Square Punch (103375), 1-1/4" Square Punch (104400), Dotto (103305).
