Window Frame Technique

This cute Christmas card was a demonstrator swap that I got from Jacqui a couple of weeks ago.

Window Frame Christmas Swap Card
Stamps: Window Dressing (Level 3 Hostess), Best Yet (Level 1 Hostess).  Card/Paper: Whisper White (106549), Bashful Blue (106565).  Ink: Basic Grey (109120).  Accessories: Soft Subtles Brads (106954), Stampin' Write Marker Pens, Chunky Sprinkles Stampin' Glitter (111343).  Tools: 1-3/8" Square Punch (103375), 1-1/4" Square Punch (104400), Dotto (103305), Mat Pack (105826), Tombo Multi Purpose Adhesive (110755).

As a result of this swap and a video demonstration posted on Jacqui's blog, there was a NZSU Blog Challenge to create a card using this window frame technique.  I made this card for the challenge, but unfortunately didn't post it before the challenge finished (I was too busy prepping for the Hamilton Extravaganza!).

Window Frame Thank You Card
Stamps: Heartfelt Thanks (116372), Simply Said (116414).  Card/Paper: Whisper White (106549), Chocolate Chip (108599).  Ink: Riding Hood Red (111836), Chocolate Chip (100908).  Accessories: Linen Thread (104199).  Tools: 1-3/8" Square Punch (103375), 1-1/4" Square Punch (104400), Dotto (103305), 1/2" Circle Punch (104390), Anywhere Glue Stick (104045), Mat Pack (105826), Mini Glue Dots (103683).

I made a few of these cards and those lovely people who placed orders with me at the Hamilton Extravaganza get one of them as my thanks to you.  This card is quite easy to re-produce and, changing the stamped images and words, can be used for any occasion.  Handmade ButtonsThe thing that took the longest for this particular card was making the "buttons".  I didn't have Chocolate Chip buttons in my stash at the time, so I made these using a 1/2" Circle Punch, Chocolate Chip cardstock (four circles stacked and glued together), the Mat Pack and some Linen Thread.

Scallop Square Card

The little Whittaker's chocolate boxes that I made for those who attended the Hamilton Extravaganza on the weekend were inspired by this card.

Scallop Square Christmas Swap Card

Stamps: Punches Three (Level 1 Hostess), So Swirly (109683).  Card/Paper: Bordering Blue (108607), Night of Navy (106577), Kraft (106554), Bella Bleu Designer Paper (113974).  Ink: Bordering Blue (102265), Not Quite Navy (103008), VersaMark (102283).  Accessories: Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder (109130), Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter (102023), Linen Thread (104199).  Tools: Distressing Tool from the Cutter Kit (106958), Scallop Square Punch (112081), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Heat Tool (106586).

This is a demonstrator swap card that I received from Janine a couple of weeks ago.  Isn't it a lovely design!  The "sparkly" effect is achieved using clear embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter.  You can achieve the same effect using Heat & Stick Powder (100625) from page 145 of the catalogue with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter.

Scallop Square and Boho Blossoms PunchesDon't forget that the Scallop Square punch used here is the FREE PUNCH that you can get in the current promotion when you spend $105 on products from the Christmas Extravaganza Gift-Giving Guide.  But wait there's more!  There has been a change to the current promotion so that now you can choose between the Scallop Square punch and the Boho Blossoms punch.

Hamilton Extravaganza

Yesterday we had the Hamilton Extravaganza.  We got close to 100 stampers on the day and everyone who attended had a great time.  How our extravaganzas work is, five pairs of demonstrators prepared and taught a project, moving from table to table so at the end of the day everyone who attended took home five lovely creations.  I was fortunate to be paired up with Rachael, a very creative demonstrator from Auckland.  She came up with this lovely box, which is what we demonstrated on the day.

Brownies Box

Stamps: Spotlight on Christmas (115876), Oval All (116877).  Card/Paper: Old Olive (106576), Chocolate Chip (108599), Baja Breeze (116207), Whisper White (106549), Ski Slope Designer Series Paper (112994).  Ink: Old Olive (102277), Real Red (106578).  Accessories: Silver Brads (104336), Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (109052).  Tools: Corner Rounder Punch (109047), Scallop Oval Punch (114889), Large Oval Punch (107305), 5-Petal Flower Punch (109041), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

The box is made for a chocolate brownie (which was included as part of the pack), but it would also be great for Christmas Cake, truffles, ...

As a part of the day, all the demonstrators contributed items for the door prizes.  Two of the ladies from our workshops each won one of the ten door prizes.  For my contribution, I re-made the Just Beachy acetate box and filled it with chocolate almonds.  Certainly, the door prize that was most coveted was the cookies-in-a-jar made by Rachael.

Cookies in a Jar

Everyone who attended got a bag of goodies from their demonstrator.  Each one of my bags had a name tag.

Hamilton Extravaganza Name Tags
Stamps: Baroque Motifs (116340), Defining Alphabet (116354).  Card/Paper: Very Vanilla (106550), Certainly Celery (108619), Basic Gray (111859).  Ink: Basic Gray (109120), Certainly Celery (105217).  Accessories: Certainly Celery 5/8" poly-twill ribbon (from September's Ribbon Bundle Promotion).  Tools: Corner Rounder Punch (109047), Horizontal Slot Punch (105089), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

I had a lot of fun making making these and used the Certainly Celery ribbon we got as a part of the ribbon bundle promotion in August.  The only down-side was that I used a new alphabet stamp set, which took me two-hours to mount!  The bag also included a small chocolate-gift from me.

Christmas Chocolate Gift Box
Stamps: Punches Three (Level 1 Hostess).  Card/Paper: Night of Navy (106577), Whisper White (106549).  Ink: Night of Navy (102977), VersaMark (102283).  Accessories: Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder (109130), Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter (102023), Linen Thread (104199).  Tools: Scallop Square Punch (112081), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Heat Tool (106586).

Christmas Chocolate Gift Box FrontInside the little box is a square of Whittakers chocolate - yummy!  The Merry Christmas stamp on the front is from the Punches Three level 1 hostess stamp set and punched out with the Scallop Square punch.  This is the free punch that you can get in the current promotion when you spend $105 on products from the Christmas Extravaganza Gift-Giving Guide.  This promotion runs from 1 November until 14 December.

Bluebirds Altered Notepad

I found a punch art bluebird on Rochelle Gould's website, which I though was adorable.  It uses a large circle punch that we don't have in our Australia/New Zealand catalogue. so I decided to have a go making it using the punches I have available.  I started off making one bird for the front of a notepad I was covering.  When I decided to add the "friendship" stamp to the bottom of the cover I thought that one little bird looked lonely, so gave him a friend!  I have had so many comments about this that I thought I had better post a picture.

Bluebirds Altered Notepad

Stamps: Wonderful Words (retired). Card/Paper: Pacific Point (116202), Barely Banana (106563), Chocolate Chip (108599), Old Olive (106576), Pumpkin Pie (108601).  Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908), VersaMark (102283). Accessories: Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie Flower Brads (112583).  Tools: Daubers (102892), Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (100082), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), Scallop Circle Punch (109043), Crimper (101618), Dimensionals (104430).

For the bluebirds, I used Pacific Point card and daubered around the edges.  As yet, I don't have the Pacific Point stamp pad so I used my Versamark stamp pad.  The daubering gave definition around each piece of the assembled bird as it is all the same colour.

Bluebird Punch Art

Body: 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401) in Pacific Point (116202).

Wings and Tail: Scallop Circle Punch (109043) in Pacific Point (116202).  Then using the 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401) I punched out two wings, then cut out the tail.

Beak: Pumpkin Pie (108601).

Eyes: Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (100082)

To add a bit more colour to the cover, I used the flower brads from the Spring Mini Catalogue.  Don't forget that these and the other items in the Spring Mini Catalogue are only available until the end of next month.

Santa Bag-in-a-box

This last week at my workshops we have been making Christmas bag-in-a-boxes, which are really easy to make, but make a wow statement.  While wandering around the web (as you do), I came across some other designs for a bag-in-a-box.  Here is one I totally copied from Patti Lee...

Santa Bag-in-a-box
Card/Paper: Riding Hood Red (116205), Whisper White (106549), Basic Black (106561), Brushed Silver (Brushed Metallic 106559).  Accessories: Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109025), Basic Black 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109027).  Tools: Round Tab Punch (108340), Horizontal Slot Punch (105089), Scallop Edge Punch (112091). 1/4" Circle Punch (retired).

If you go to her website you will also find elves!  Cute aren't they.

I am a stay-at-home mum with three kids and a wonderfully supportive husband.  I love craft, but stamping and card making is my passion.  I also enjoy extending card-making and stamping techniques to create 3-D projects and gifts.

I was introduced to Stampin' Up! a over ten years ago and I quickly fell in love with their high-quality, coordinating products and, soon after, became an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  I now hold regular workshops in my home focusing on the fabulous papercraft products Stampin' Up! has to offer.

I enjoy sharing what I know with others and inspiring their stamping creativity.
