Tri-Fold Shutter Card

Yes, it is birthday season for our family!  This is a tri-fold shutter card that I made for my mother-in-law's birthday.  My mother-in-law is a stamper as well, so I always try to do something special to wow her and this card surely does that.  I love the Designer Series Paper in this catalogue, the DSP I used for this card comes from the Washington Apple set.

Girl's Birthday Card

Here is the very pretty and very girly birthday card that I made for my daughter's birthday, she turned 6 yesterday.  I didn't put it up earlier because she often looks here and may see it!

Stamps: Bitty Birthday (115762).  Card/Paper: Pink Pirouette (116203), Riding Hood Red (116205), Very Vanilla (106550), Candy Lane DSP (113980).  Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908).  Accessories: Watercolor Pencils (101879), Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (102023), Very Vanilla 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109026).  Tools: Scallop Circle Punch (109043), 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), Blender Pen (102845), 2-way Glue Pen (100425).  Techniques: Water Colouring.

The colours I used are Pirouette Pink and Riding Hood Red, both from the In Color family.  I am really loving these new colours.  I also used designer paper from Candy Lane, which is what we are using to make the "Wouldn't It Be Wonderful" Wish List for the July workshops.  A little bit of ribbon, some Dazzling Diamonds glitter and voila!

I really like the Bitty Birthday stamp set, and used all of them on this card.  It is really versatile for birthday cards, both feminine and masculine.

Another Faux Silk Effect

Yet another card using the faux-silk effect!  This one is for my nephew's 1st birthday, which is tomorrow.

Another Faux Silk Effect Card

Stamps: Pun Fun (115854), Star Wheel (retired).  Card/Paper: Real Red (108595), Yoyo Yellow (102717), Whisper White (106549).  Ink: Basic Black (101179), Real Red (103133), Brilliant Blue (100691), Yoyo Yellow (102717).  Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (102023).  Tools: Anywhere Glue Stick (104045), Daubers (102892), Blender Pen (102845), 2-way Glue Pen (100425), Mat Pack (105826), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).  Techniques: Faux Silk Effect, Water Colouring.

This time, instead of white tissue paper, I used a blue that was almost the same shade as Brilliant Blue.  I used a star Stampin' Wheel (retired) to create the "space scene" and then mixed this with Read Red and Yoyo Yellow.  The Bold Brights colour family is great for kids' cards.  I mounted the crushed tissue on white as I found that it made it brighter than if I mounted it on blue card.  If you don't turn the tissue over the edges and choose to trim it, I would suggest you sponge or dauber the edges of the exposed white card.

Faux Silk Effect

After Tuesday night's workshop I was playing with the Faux Silk Effect and created the card below.  Unfortunately, the camera doesn't quite capture the texture!  It is a really lovely way of adding texture to cards and scrapbooking pages.  To see the card that we created at the June workshop using this effect, click HERE and check out the previous workshop projects.
