Children-themed ATC Swap

  • Click HERE if you don't know what ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) are and want to know more.

The theme of this ATC swap was children.  I knew I wanted to use a photo of my baby son's hand (who is now four).  When I went hunting through all our photos I didn't find the photo I was looking for, but instead found a photo of my son's hand with my Great Nana's hand, which I just love.  The photo was taken at my Great Nana's 100th birthday, it is her hand and my, then, 1 month-old boy.

August 2010 Children ATC Swap

Stamps: Scribble This (116406).  Card/Paper: Sahara Sand (106552), Whisper White (106549).  Ink: Sahara Sand (105208), VersaMark (102283).  Accessories: White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132), White uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen (105021).  Tools: Heat Tool (106586), Mat Pack (105826), Daubers (102892).

The wording on the photo says, "one century and five generations apart... together".  I titled the ATC, "youngest generation".

Here is some more information about my ATC:

  • The Whisper White cardstock is daubered with Sahara Sand before matting onto the Sahara Sand cardstock.
  • I stamped the swirl from Scribble This using VersaMark, added white embossing powder, then heat set it.  When heat setting embossing on a photograph you need to heat very slowly and carefully.  If it is heated to quickly the photo will be ruined with cracked lines through it before the embossing powder sets.
  • The faux-stitching across the top and down the right-hand side was pierced using the Mat Pack, and then I played "join-the-dots" with a white gel pen.

And here are the lovely ATC swaps that I received...

August 2010 Children ATC Swaps

Aren't they gorgeous and so different from each other.  Oops, I just realised that I have photographed the "friend" ACT swap turned landscape instead of portrait (sorry Vicky-Lee).

Sponged Birthday Card

About the month ago I put up a picture of the birthday card that Miss-Nine made for her sister's birthday.  At the end of the post I teased you by saying that I had made a card for my daughter but did not want to post it yet as it has a lovely technique that I planned to use for a workshop.  Well here is the promised card...

Sophie's Birthday Card

Stamps: Sincere Salutations (116416).  Card/Paper: Rich Razzleberry (119981), Kiwi Kiss (116204), Whisper White (106549).  Ink: Rich Razzleberry (115658), Tempting Turquoise (100814).  Accessories: Tempting Turquoise Marker (100058), Kiwi Kiss button (Button Bouquet: 112092).  Tools: Polka Dot Textured Impressions Folder (117335), Sizzix Big Shot (113439), Eyelet Border Punch (1013692), Color Spritzer (107066), Stamping Sponges (101610), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

Once again, the colour of this card was inspired by the colour challenge from Just Add Ink #22.  But it wasn't finished in time for the challenge deadline.  This is not a colour combination that I would usually put together, but I really love it and have had a lot of great comments about it.

In the May workshops we created gorgeous cards using the Fresh Cut Notes.  Well, the sponged flowers on this card were created by using the Fresh Cut Notes as a stencil.  You can sponge them...

July Thank You Cards

Or you can use the spritzer through the stencil, which is what I did on the inside of the card and envelope front...

July Thank You Cards

Because the card and the colour scheme was such a success, I decided to include a variation of this card in the August workshop.  Come along and play with some way-cool Stampin' Up! tools and learn a new technique or two.

Butterfly Thank You

Yep, I have had my Medallion stamp out again!  I just can't resist using it as it is a wonderful background.  It is really lovely with neutrals and vintage-type colours like Soft Suede.  I made these cards to give to everyone who has (and will) place an order during the month of July.

July Thank You Cards

Stamps: Medallion (119175), Flight of the Butterfly (115798).  Card/Paper: Soft Suede (119982), Elegant Eggplant (108614), Rose Red (108613), Very Vanilla (106550).  Ink: Soft Suede (115657), Rose Red (101778).  Tools: 1-3/8" Circle Punch (104401), 1-1/4" Circle Punch (104403), Butterfly Punch (116629), Eyelet Border Punch (1013692), Sponge Daubers (102892), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

The colours of these cards were inspired by the rich colour challenge from Just Add Ink #25.  But as per usual, I didn't get around to making these cards until after the challenge had closed.  I love the colour combination of Soft Suede, Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red and Very Vanilla.

July Thank You Cards

This card also features the butterfly and sentiment from Flight of the Butterfly stamp set.  We used this beautiful stamp set for one of the July Workshop projects.

Another Birthday Card

Here is another gorgeous birthday card that I recieved.  This gate-fold card came from my friend Rose...

Birthday Card from Rose

Rose is really proud of her creation, and she should be!  I love the colour combination of Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede.

The technique that Rose used to colour this card is called Emboss-Resist.  It is called that because when you sponge ink over embossing, the embossing "resists" the ink and you can just wipe it off, leaving this lovely impression...

This card features another lovely stamp set from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue -  Vintage Vogue.

Birthday Card

My birthday was on Sunday and I received some really lovely cards.  Who would have thought!

I want to share a very special one that I got from my Mother-In-Law.  Lyn makes beautiful cards and I always look forward to catching up with her and seeing what she has created lately.  Well, here is the beautiful card that I got from Mum for my birthday...
