Sparkling Dasher

Last weekend there was a demonstrator gathering however, due to the Hamilton Christmas Extravaganza, I didn't attend.  Instead I sent my swaps along and got some really lovely ones back.

You may recognise my swaps, they are a card to go with the Sparkling Dasher Gable Box we made at last month's workshops...

Sparkling Dasher Gable Box and Christmas Card

Sparkling Dasher Christmas Card

Stamps: Dasher (wood: 121592), Lovely As A Tree (wood: 116388), Curly Cute (wood: 121500, clear: 120510), Sparkling Stampin' Around Jumbo Wheel (116444).  Card/Paper: Soft Suede (119982), Real Red (106578), Whisper White (106549).  Ink: Real Red (103133), Soft Suede (115657), VersaMark (102283).  Accessories: Frost White Shimmer Paint (116854), Basic Pearls Jewels (119247), Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder (109130), White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132).  Tools: Scallop Trim Corner Punch (118870), Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402), Emobssing Buddy (103083), Heat Tool (106586), Sponge Daubers (102892), Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).  Techniques: Shimmery Emboss Resist.

The dasher image was achieved by using the Shimmery Emboss Resist technique:

  1. Stamp Dasher image using VersaMark on Soft Suede and clear emboss.
  2. Using a dauber, evenly rub Frost White Shimmer Paint over the card stock.  The embossed image will resist the Shimmer Paint.
  3. Apply the Frost White Shimmer Paint into the tree-scape image from Lovely As A Tree and stamp over Dasher.
  4. The embossed Dasher will resist the Shimmer Paint so, once the Shimmer Paint on the card stock is dry, rub Dasher to remove the Shimmer Paint.

Hamilton Christmas Extravaganza

On Sunday we held the Hamilton Christmas Extravaganza.  At an Extravaganza, five pairs of demonstrators prepare and teach a project, moving from table to table so at the end of the day everyone of the 90ish stampers who attended took home five lovely creations using a variety of techniques.

Everyone who attended recieved a bag of goodies from their demonstrator.  Here are the name tags that I put on my bags, which were inspired by the 3-D ornament Christmas cards we will be making in the November Workshops...

Plus, all the demonstrators contibuted items for the door prizes to be given out during the day.  For my contribution I made "Christmas puddings" by dipping Mellow Puff biscuits in white chocolate and finishing it off with a jaffa "cherry" and "leaves"...

And then there were the five lovely creations...

Extravaganza Projects

Clock-wise from the top left:

  • Embossed Christmas Cracker using Shimmery White card stock, Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz and Marina Mist.
  • Snowkid Tent Card - a great fancy-fold technique with cute punch art.
  • Delightful Decorations Gift Bag in Pear Pizzazz and Cherry Cobbler.  And they also stamped the tissue paper insert!
  • Artistic Etchings Waterfall Album - a neat gift idea in Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Elegant Eggplant.
  • Snowman Christmas Card that used a variety of great Shimmer Paint techniques.

It was a fantastic day and we have had some really lovely feedback.  Everyone I spoke to had a great time and there are those who are already planning on coming to the next one early next year.

Masculine-themed ATC Swap

  • Click HERE if you don't know what ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) are and want to know more.

The theme of this ATC swap was "the men in your life" or a masculine creation.  I have to admit I had a lot of trouble with this swap and only figured out what I was going to create three days before I had to post them off!  In the end it was the Masculine card that we made in the September workshops that inspired my ATC swap...

Masculine-Themed ATC Swap

Stamps: Lovely As A Tree (wood: 116388).  Card/Paper: Old Olive (106576), Cajun Craze (121683), Very Vanilla (106550), Watercolour Paper (105019), Medium Window Sheet (114232).  Ink: Old Olive (102277), Jet Black Stazon (101406).  Accessories: Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker (100079), Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker (100071), Black Brads (Neutrals: 119736).  Tools: Aqua Painter (103954), Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049), 1/2" Circle Punch (119869), 3/4" Circle Punch (119873), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

I wanted this ATC to be a tribute to the men in my life... my son, husband, father-in-law, dad, poppa and grandad.  Sort-of like a family tree.

To create this swap I inked up the Oak Tree from the Lovely As A Tree stamp set using Old Olive and Chocolate Chip markers.  I then stamped it onto watercolour paper and, using an Aqua Painter, I washed the colour so the tree was "coloured in".  Once it was dry, I overlaid the watercolour paper with a piece of window sheet and stamped the tree again using Jet Black Stazon and a Stamp-a-ma-jig.  A couple of black brads, a tree-scape stamped in Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Cajun Craze card stock, and photos to finish.

And here are all the wonderful ATC swaps...

Every Moment Thank You

This card was inspired by the stamping we did on the Every Moment Fancy Favor Box at the Stampin' Up! training day...

October Thank You Cards

Stamps: Every Moment (wood: 121508, clear: 120522), Curly Cute (wood: 121500, clear: 120510).  Card/Paper: Textured Wild Wasabi (119953), Marina Mist (106565), Very Vanilla (106550).  Ink: Marina Mist (105209), Wild Wasabi (109014), Soft Suede (115657), Tangerine Tango (111834), Jet Black Stazon (101406).  Accessories: Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker (120973).  Tools: Blender Pen (102845), Color Spritzer Tool (107066), Round Tab Punch (119864), Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402).

I am loving the Curly Cute stamp set, it has a good range of sentiments and the design goes with everything!  Check it out on page 110 of the Idea Book & Catalogue.

I made these cards for everyone who placed in order during the month of October.  Making so many of these cards was probably little over-ambitious, as the watercolouring took quite a while, but I really like the finish and loved giving them away.

Our first Christmas Cards

We needed to send out our first Christmas cards this week so for my school holiday "card class" with my kids we made these three cards...

Kids'Christmas Cards

The layout for these cards is from the Embrace Life card demonstrated at the Hamilton Stamptacular and uses the Sparkling Stampin' Around Jumbo Wheel, Delightful Decorations stamp set and the co-ordinating Ornament punch.

The first card was made by master-four and was sent to a girl we sponsor in Rwanda through World Vision.  The other two were made by miss-seven and miss-nine and were added to two Christmas Boxes we filled for Operation Christmas Child.  We had a lot of fun making the cards, especially with all the glitter, and preparing gifts for those children who would normally go without.

I am a stay-at-home mum with three kids and a wonderfully supportive husband.  I love craft, but stamping and card making is my passion.  I also enjoy extending card-making and stamping techniques to create 3-D projects and gifts.

I was introduced to Stampin' Up! a few years ago and I quickly fell in love with their high-quality, coordinating products and, soon after, became an Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  I now hold regular workshops in my home focusing on the fabulous papercraft products Stampin' Up! has to offer.

I enjoy sharing what I know with others and inspiring their stamping creativity.
