Christmas WishesI am inspired by the colours in the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper - it has a vintage-vibe, but with fresh, new colours. This Christmas card may not have any of that designer paper, but the colours are drawn from it... Sahara Sand, Merry Merlot, and copper. I've combined these gorgeous colours with one of my favourite bundles in the Holiday Catalogue, the Merry Christmas To All stamp set and coordinating Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies.
Bundles: Merry Christmas To All Stamp Set + Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies (photopolymer: 149952). Ink: Merry Merlot (147112), Whisper White (147277). Card/Paper: Sahara Sand (121695), Merry Merlot (147005), Shimmery White (121717), White Vellum (106584). Accessories: Bright Copper Shimmer Paint (147045), Metallics Sequin Assortment (144214), White Stampin' Emboss Powder (109132). Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Big Shot Embossing Mats (146327), Subtle 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder (143706), Heat Tool (129056), Aqua Painter (103954), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).If you take a second look this card, you'll see that there are a few techniques on display. None of them are difficult, but they were all fun to do! To begin, I embossed "Christmas". Don't go looking in the catalogues for a "Christmas" embossing folder, you won't find it. This was created using the Big Shot Embossing Mats, which turns your favourite Framelits, Thinlits, and Edgelits into dies that create embossed impressions instead of die-cutting. I used the "Christmas" die from the Merry Christmas Thinlits to create that lovely impression.
I used Shimmery White card stock for "Christmas" impression because I knew I wanted to do a water-based wash later, and needed a robust card stock. Plus, I love the shiny look of the Shimmery White! Before I added any colour to the Shimmery White card, I laid down a wash of water using an Aqua Painter. I then added a wash of Merry Merlot ink on the top half and Bright Copper Shimmer Paint on the bottom half. Because I applied the water before adding any ink, when I added the colour it spread and blended nicely without having to do much at all. I wanted the beautiful wash-effect on this Christmas card to be the focal point, so I simply finished it with the remainder of the sentiment and a small cluster of elements on the right.
Isn't that Shimmer Paint so yummy!
Holiday Catalogue Launch PartyWhat a great day last Friday was! I loved getting together with everyone and celebrating the launch of the new 2018 Holiday Catalogue. Even though I got sick and I had to postpone the Holiday Catalogue Launch Party by a week, most people were still able to attend and want to thank you for your flexibility. So, what did we get up to? All guests received a pack of goodies when they arrived, there was the hands-on exploration of new products, creative inspiration, games, prizes, and more! Here's a small glimpse of our day...
A party is not a party without gifts! Here are packs of new products that I gave away as spot prizes. Inside are sheets of the pretty All Is Bright Designer Series Paper, some of the All Is Bright Paper Clips, all wrapped up using the silky Real Red 3/8" Mixed Satin Ribbon...
Everyone who attended the Holiday Catalogue Launch Party also had multiple chances to add their names to a prize draw, which was drawn at the end of the event. The winner received the fabulous Beautiful Baubles stamp set and limited-edition Dashing Along Designer Series Paper (from this month's exclusive host promotion), tied with a generous length of 5/8" Striped Burlap Trim, and finished with one of the pretty Sincerely Santa gift tags...
There was also time for creating with two festive projects. We created a fun Christmas card using the Silver Foil-Edged Cards & Envelopes, Making Christmas Bright Bundle, and the sparkly Black Glittered Organza Ribbon. This is one layout, if you like symmetrical...
Bundles: Making Christmas Bright Stamp Set + Christmas Bulb Builder Punch (photopolymer: 149947). Ink: Poppy Parade (147050), Granny Apple Green (147095), Crushed Curry (147087), Tuxedo Black Memento (132708). Card/Paper: Granny Apple Green (147014), Whisper White (106549). Accessories: Silver Foil-Edged Cards & Envelopes (147900), Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon (147897), Frost White Shimmer Paint (147046). Tools: Stamparatus (148187), Sponge Daubers (133773), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).And here's an alternative layout...
The background of this card is stamped using the string-of-lights image from the Making Christmas Bright stamp set. The stamp was aligned at the top of the card, mounted on the Stamparatus, then inked with Frost White Shimmer Paint using a Sponge Dauber, and stamped. The plate from the Stamparatus was removed, dropped down one hinge, and the stamp inked and stamped again. This was repeating all the way down the card to create a fun, shimmery background...
The second make-and-take was two sweet Christmas gift tags created using the fabulous new Christmas Traditions Punch Box and All Is Bright Designer Series Paper. These were finished with decorative foliage using the Sprig Punch, Call Me Clover card stock, and Copper and Merry Merlot Glimmer Paper. Oh, and the sequins were easily added using the Take Your Pick Tool!
Bundles: Christmas Traditions Punch Box (148030). Card/Paper: Cherry Cobbler (121681), Call Me Clover (146992), All Is Bright Designer Series Paper (147892), Joyous Noel 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper (147817). Accessories: Real Red 3/8" Mixed Satin Ribbon (147894). Tools: Sprig Punch (148012), Banner Triple Punch (138292), 1/8" Circle Handheld Punch (134365), Take Your Pick (144107), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).I am pleased everyone enjoyed their time at the Holiday Catalogue Launch Party and that they love all the new, gorgeous product offerings. Here's my first Christmas card of the year, which I created using the Making Christmas Bright stamp set and Christmas Bulb Builder Punch...
Bundles: Making Christmas Bright Stamp Set + Christmas Bulb Builder Punch (photopolymer: 149947). Ink: Coastal Cabana (147097), Poppy Parade (147050), Granny Apple Green (147095), Crushed Curry (147087), Bermuda Bay (147096), VersaMark (102283). Card/Paper: Gray Granite (147008), Whisper White (106549). Accessories: Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes (145583), Silver Baker's Twine (145569), Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins (146287), Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder (109130). Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Corrugated 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (148026), Heat Tool (129056), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).This card uses the Faux-Leather Technique that is shared for my Father's Day Wallet Card. Before applying the Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder to the Gray Granite background, I embossed the card stock using the fabulous, new Corrugated Embossing Folder. The finish is like a wet tin roof!
A Christmas card is not complete with a bit of bling. I went with some Silver Baker's Twine and silver stars from the Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins - so merry and bright!
Happy Father's Day!A simple card design, with a simple technique, becomes a fabulous greeting card with wow-factor! This masculine Wallet Card is perfect for Father's Day...
Bundles: Stitched All Around Stamp Set + Stitched Labels Framelits Dies (wood: 148373, clear: 148374). Stamps: Itty Bitty Greetings (wood: 146664, clear: 146667). Ink: Gray Granite (147118), Night of Navy (147110), VersaMark (102283). Card/Paper: Gray Granite (147008), Night of Navy (106577), Whisper White Thick (140490), Soft Sea Foam (147012). Accessories: Basic Brads (146930), Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder (109130). Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Big Shot Embossing Mats (146327), Detailed Trio Punch (146320), Heat Tool (129056), Stamping Sponges (141337), Mini Glue Dots (103683). Other: 10 mm flat magnets.
The outside of this card looks and feels like is has a leather- or vinyl-finish. The Faux-Leather Technique is a simple technique to do, but gives an amazing finish to card stock:
For my card I didn't actually use an embossing folder, I used dies! Yes, you read that right. I used the Stitched All Around Framelits with the new Big Shot Embossing Mats, resulting in a gorgeous stitched impression on the front of the wallet. Then I applied the Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set to get that gorgeous Faux-Leather finish.
Inside the card there are pockets and spaces for special messages, gift cards, or monetary gifts...
I don't own a male-specific stamp set, so I utilised what I had on the shelf, making sure the colours, embellishments, and stamping were appropriate. The Neutrals are a great colour collection to use for masculine cards, but don't be afraid of adding a splash of colour. I used Night of Navy and Gray Granite as my base colours and added a splash of Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam. Brads are always a great metallic addition for men's cards, so I used the Basic Brads with the button-shape as the Wallet Card closure. And lastly, my main stamping came from the Stitched All Around stamp set, which is a fun, versatile collection. To compliment that, I used the Itty Bitty Greetings to pick the perfect words for the inside "stitched designer label". This stamp set gets so much use as it has so many options!
So, to all those Dad's out there, for those that we create strong paternal bonds with, and the amazing, positive male role models in our lives.... I'm so thankful for their love and wisdom.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
A Pop-Out Birthday Surprise! This gorgeous butterfly card uses the Abstract Impressions stamp set and coordinating Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies, and is a happy meld between the similar Soft Sea Foam Sympathy card with colours and design elements drawn from the Lustrous White Mini Gable Box I shared in June. Unlike the Sympathy Card, which the butterfly is the focal point, this gorgeous birthday card puts the focus on the beautiful die-cut flowers...
Bundles: Abstract Impressions Stamp Set + Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies (photopolymer: 148348). Stamps: Varied Vases (photopolymer: 146644). Ink: Pineapple Punch (147141), Mango Melody (147093), Balmy Blue (147105), Pacific Point (147098). Card/Paper: Mango Melody (147013), Shimmery White (121717), White Vellum (106584). Accessories: Blossoms Elements (146330), Pearls Basic Jewels (144219), Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (141897). Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Magnetic Platform (130658), Classic Label Punch (141491), Leaf Punch (144667), Aqua Painter (103954), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Mini Stampin' Dimensionals (144108), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
After die-cutting this bundle of flowers from Shimmery White card stock, I used the Aqua Painter to give it a vibrant wash of Pineapple Punch and Mango Melody inks to make it pop on the Shimmery White card base. Here's the opening of the pop-out card, where the butterfly pulls through the card front and "appears" inside too!
When the recipient of this pretty birthday card opened her card, she got a lovely surprise!
