Welcome to the Around the World Stampin' Up! Blog Hop, featuring trees and flowers, in honour of this month's limited-time Thoughtful Branches Bundle.
For August only, Stampin' Up! have released the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and coordinating Beautiful Branches Thinlits Dies and, for this Around the World Stampin' Up! Blog Hop, our design team have created with or inspired by this gorgeous bundle. If you have been following all the links through the blog hop, you will have come from Anke Hämsch (Germany) and seen her lovely project. At the bottom of this post is a list of links for everyone else in the team, so you can hop your way through all the wonderful projects we have created.
The project I created for this blog hop uses the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and, as I've said before, it is so much more than trees. This card, featuring a pretty Sweet Sugarplum hydrangea, is a testament to this bundle's versatility...

The magic of this card is when you open it...
This is a Z-Fold Pop-Up Card and it's easy to create but has a lot of wow-factor. Here's the dimensions for preparing the card stock...
If you're using A4 card stock, then the card base is 10.5 cm x 29.6 cm, scored at 7.4 cm and 14.8 cm. The popup on my card, which adds all that fun dimension is 4.5 cm x 29.6 cm and scored the same as the card base. If you're using Letter card stock, then the card base would be 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2", with the popup piece cut at 1-3/4" x 11" and scored the same as the card base.
Once you have the popup adhered to the card base, the trick to making this card fabulous is to ensure you have a lot of height that hangs over the popup mechanism on the front-right of the card when it's closed. I've done that with the beautiful big hydrangea flower head. Plus, I've added extra dimension to the hydrangea flower by stamping the flowers once (in Sweet Sugarplum ink onto Sweet Sugarplum card stock), but die-cut the flower twice. The unstamped flower is turned upside down and adhered behind the stamped piece using strategically-placed Stampin' Dimensionals.
